They, whoever THEY are, say life is made up of moments. Not memories. I mean, do you ever really remember the WHOLE movie, or story or day, or trip? Not. DO you ever really understand entire themes, life-stages or years or even weeks in their entirety? NOT. There are MOMENTS that make perfect sense. But take like 1,000 of those moments and lace them together and they can't all make sense - perfectly - together. There were many moments on our recent trip to Nicaragua where I had been surfing for 4+ hours, cranking out chill turns on a log, when I would just stop turning, stop bing and stall the board and drag my hand in the face of the wave and just watch the reef (WORLD) go by. Filtered through crystaline water at the speed of nature. Moments. Too much scrutiny or judgement (Dude, it's like surfing and like duh and like that's like for little rubber people who don't shave - it's like fucking meaningless so why don't you like get a clue) just kills the whole thing. So, rather than judge those moments, or try to figure out EXACTLY what they mean....I am choosing to just wallow in them. Like love fondue. Like a remote hot spring. Like a moment of solace and truth and simplicity. Like last nite. Like tonite, when Q and I were stacking wood and watching the sunset and making idle conversation about really inane things like which dragon from his Rings of Fire book would win which fight against who. It's all meaningless. It's also the most important stuff in the whole world. It just IS. And in it's simplicity it is the fundamental basis for why we are here.
Easy big fella......so now you think know the *truth*...easy..easy ..it's slippery stuff. Hard to hold onto. Don't try.
