The most important thing I did today was to rally to the hill, and 'slide' with Joey and Miss Kim - thereby assembling 3/4's of next weeks PAHTY (Salto @ 1pm Sunday for a bike ride, and at 3 we are having a group 193rd birthday). The surface conditions at Eldora were the worst I have seen in 25 years. I can't describe the 'Styro-crete' that our edges were NOT cutting into. They didn't roll a SINGLE run - it was treacherous and hideous and I am floored that MANAGEMENT did not decree it worthwhile to mow some of that ice into ride-able surface. The important part - is we were - the three of us together - laughing and wallowing in good friendships and this whole life trip thing. Later on in the day - along about 11:30 when it felt like the sun was about to go down..I rolled out on the Phat Sled and encountered every trail condition known to man. That 3rd shot is basically a snow bike super highway. Pretty challenging conditions out tehre with the deep sugar snow that just spreads like greased ball bearings. Was super stoked to get out. 5 more days until the shortest day of the year. I like that pivot there - on the solstice....onward.
