Monday I had perhaps the best ride of the year - so far. There is a lotta ground left to cover in this year. I feel like I have put down a great deal of my ego as it relates to riding bikes. Whatever 'standards' and goals I have are largely personal and really pretty irrelevant. That being said - I have a had a few 'ass-kicked' weeks. Great riding - but feeling pretty beat up. Took care of the body and mind and I was rewarded with the best climb of the year for me so far. This particular test piece is perhaps my favorite climb of all time. It's less than 30 minutes for the real 'crux' of it, but it is steep and high and technical and just really challenging. Today it felt like floating. It felt like what JJ looks like ascending - well anything. My wheels were finding the right paths and my legs felt fresh and I cleaned EVERYTHING I usually bobble on and then in a blissful, comical moment - bobbled on a place I never bobble. Cracked up....kept the humor flowing for the rest of the day. P and A - I thank you for the humility and the punishment and the love.
