If you are seeing the news at all out there - you are getting a bit of the pic that Boulder is under attack. No, not World War Z - but World War Water. They say we are almost triple the record (set in 1919) of the amount of rainfall in 24 hours. The forecast is calling for 2 more days of rain. Heavy rain. Biblical shit. Homes are washing away, cars are floating by (Out on the road the world is floating by) and the rain continues to hammer. We are safe up here in the high country - out of the flood plain - but as it pounds down we can imagine all this water dropping the 3,000 feet down the hill...accelerating. Here comes the water. During this flood we lost a very good friend to unrelated causes. My friend said tonite that once you turn 40 the shit starts to happen and life catches up with people and the DEFAULT setting - is death and disease and divorce. I am not being negative - I believe ALL those things are ultimately avoidable in some cases - but the natural course of things is for things to fall apart (called entropy - people). So - today - while I did frivolous, silly things in the woods - the beloved woods - my friend died. I am so sad for his family and was SO psyched to see him back to his old self for a while. Hopefully now he is finally somewhere he can rest and smile and relax. Rock on BM. Your tolerance, odd sense of humor, companionship and ability to stomach me in close quarters for long periods of time was always a gift to me.
