This winter trail riding thing is tough. Had the tires on the PHAT bike down to about 3 PSI to climb in the woods in sugary, loose, slippery snow. I made 5.8 miles and about 800 feet of vertical in just under an hour and forty minutes. That would take me about 35 minutes on dry trail. Always a trip to recalculate expectations and distances and what a 'ride' really is, or isn't. Ended up bailing the human made trails and following elk stampede lines through the woods as they were the only viable routes. Pretty cool. I am convinced that the elk begat the boyscouts which begat the dots and us. I feel honored to move along in their well selected contours at less than 3 mph....waddling along in the snow.
