One would IMAGINE - that I would have this down by now. BUTT - every year there is the miscalculation. Today - very small - minute. If you watch the vid...note the nature of the trails in the first half. Tacky, wet, slippery, snowy...but gorgeous and fun. THEN - literally - 400 feet of elevation - and a north facing aspect - rather than east and south - and guess what - carrying the bike for 3 miles b/c the rear tire stopped functioning even in a straight push mode. Couldn't even push the bike. That got a little frustrating and it was right on 31 degrees, so I was soaked from the outside and soaked from the inside. Had THREE different base layers - and used and soaked them all...had THREE pairs of gloves...same deal...and had coffee. This could have gotten a little epic with the slowing down, and colder, and wetter, so I applaud my prep, but my inability to predict the severity of the change of a few hundred feet and ground temperature (and hence snow depth) based on aspect.....not pleased about that. On to Chicago, and Pennsylvania. Back Wednesday afternoon. I HOPE it is not snowing.
