Such that I wasn't paying attention at all when I ran into this tree. Following a perfectly good trail, tracks and all and BONK. It's like a ghost rode the trail and went straight through the tree. The high woods high jinx are in full effect and damn - I am laughing my ass off.
First ride in on the belted love sled of beltage V.II this morning. Had some moderate belt migration on some climbs, but I think that is due to installation error. Correcting that as we speak and we will be back on the thing in a few hours.
Some great communication happening and I think all of it heading to/coming from the right places. This whole 'sustainability' thing. This crazy idea that we might not want to ruin what we have in order to go bigger, better, faster, farther. Why not just sit the fuck down in the woods and enjoy a beer from a wind-powered brewery? That's what I say. I am banned from my bike tomorrow. My wife says I have been riding too much and I am getting crabby and I need to rest and in honor of her B'day we will be riding a large majority of Friday. Up high - looking for shades and types of flowers we may not have seen yet. That - is a great day - I tell you.
Oh - and Stephen Cromwell - whoever you are. I actually moved to Ned back in '89. Yes. When frames were rigid, toe-straps were the NEW thing and I knew a total of one - yes ONE other rider up here. I knew if he had been out as he would be the only other set of tracks on any trail in a 15 mile radius. God's honest truth. Now, as we say in the hood - folks have traded their shotguns for Audi's and Nederland is a popular mountain biking destination. It's been a solid 20 years. If I am lucky - I get maybe 40 more years. The thing that's so cool - is on any day - I can roll out the same front door I rolled out 20 years ago on my Fisher Hoo-koo-E-Koo and see - yes - NO tire tracks at all. And that - in my world - is one very large piece of the whole 'wealth' puzzle.
